4th Week of Advent

As we light the fourth candle on the Advent wreath and look forward to the celebration of Jesus's birth, we reflect on the theme of love. By sending us His Son, God showed us the great love He has for us. He sent Jesus so that He could show us what God's love looks like in action. He showed us that love is not just a feeling, but something much greater – it's a state of being, something we are all part of, whether we realise it or not.

Christ shows us how to love others, and He also shows us that we are loved, no matter who we are, what our life circumstances are, or how much we might have sinned. He loves us unconditionally. When we're disconnected from God and 'lost' in the world, it becomes very easy to feel unloved – especially when we've had hurtful experiences with love in a human sense. Feeling unloved can be a very isolating experience, and if it's ongoing, it can make people lose all hope, inner peace, and joy in life.

But when we turn to Christ, we are safe. His love will not hurt us, and He won't abandon us. What is important is that we don't abandon Him – but even if we do, He will always take us back when we return to Him. That's how great His love is for us.

The love of Christ fulfils us when we feel empty; it soothes us when we're hurt. His love makes us whole when we feel shattered and broken; it restores and heals us and makes us complete. Healing might take time and perseverance, but what matters is that we keep walking with Christ and keep giving our lives to Him, surrendering our will to His. To walk with Christ and surrender to Him is a conscious choice to make every day, in every moment.

I wish you a wonderful and blessed Christmas.
